Wetherell named to America East All-Conference second team and all-rookie squad

Freshman center Lauren Wetherell (Bethpage, N.Y.), who quickly established herself as the team's leading scorer this season, has been named to the America East All-Conference second team and all-rookie teams, the conference announced today.

Wetherell had team-highs of 18 goals and seven assists, while scoring at least one goal in all but three games. She also led the squad with 35 draw controls and was fifth with 32 ground balls. Wetherell began the season on a tear, earning America East Rookie of the Week honors after scoring seven goals and handing out one assist in the first week of the season. In her collegiate debut, she scored three goals and had an assist against Siena, then topped that off three days later with a season-high four goals against Le Moyne. Wetherell netted multiple goals in a game four more times throughout the season, including another three-goal, one-assist effort against Stony Brook on April 12. Her offensive output ranked her among conference leaders in points per game and goals per game for much of the season, and she also spent several weeks in the national rankings for draw controls per game.
