VESTAL, N.Y. -- Junior Kayla Best scored four goals while adding one assist to lead the University at Albany over the Binghamton women's lacrosse team 17-11, on a frigid, rainy Saturday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Freshman Emily Thon would answer with a goal for the Bearcats, but the Great Danes would score another two goals to go up 4-1 at the 24:05 mark.
Sophomore Kate Tesi would score off a free position attempt, and after another Albany goal sophomore Lisa Illig would also score for the Bearcats to cut the Albany advantage to 5-3 with 16:24 remaining in the first half. The Great Danes would go on a four goal run before Binghamton would rally, scoring three in a row. However, sophomore Jodi Battaglia made sure Albany finished strong and netted a goal with 2:39 on the clock to lead the Great Danes to a 10-6 lead at the half.
The Bearcats started to climb back into the game in the second half, outscoring Albany 4-3 in the first 15 minutes. However, the Great Danes would score four in a row to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore Ali Castiglie led the Bearcats with three goals, while Tesi and Illig each added two. Also scoring for Binghamton were freshman Lis Zuern, Thon, freshman Riley Newman, and freshman Meg Brown. Junior Lizzie Wright added the Bearcats lone assist.
Binghamton was slightly out shot 29-31, and Albany won 20 draw controls to Binghamton's 10.
