Binghamton women's lacrosse lands two on 2009 All-Conference teams

America East Release

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Freshman Lis Zuern was selected to the All-Rookie team, and teammate sophomore Siobhan Menz was awarded to the All-Conference second team. This is the first time a Binghamton defender has been honored by the America East.

Zuern played in all 16 games for the Bearcats this season. She scored 23 goals, dropped six assists and led the team with 73 shots. Zuern also snagged 12 draw controls and caused six turn-overs.

This season Zuern provided some late game heroics in an overtime win against Le Moyne. Zuern tied the game with 6:05 remaining in regulation and produced the game winner off a free position attempt with 4:27 left in overtime. Zuern's total of six points from five goals and one assist set a career high for the freshman.

Menz started all 16 games this year. This season she picked up a team-high 32 ground balls and 17 caused turn-overs. She also grabbed 14 draw controls.

Last season, sophomores Ali Castiglie and Lisa Illig were named to the conference All-Rookie team.

The Bearcats return all of their offense and lose only two senior defenders for the 2010 season.
