Stephanie
Allen hired as Binghamton assistant women's lacrosse coach
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton
University athletic department has announced the hiring of Stephanie
Allen as its assistant women's lacrosse coach. She comes
directly from Presbyterian College (located in Clinton, S.C.),
where she was the programs inaugural head coach the past three
years.
Allen arrived at Presbyterian in January 2004 and coached the
squad during the 2004-05 season when it competed on the club
level. The ensuing two years, Presbyterian played at the NCAA
Division II level and this coming spring, it will move up to
the Division I level. Allen successfully recruited athletes from
eight states, including four All-Americans and a pair of state
Player of of the Year selections.
A 2003 graduate of Limestone College, Allen was a four-year starting
midfielder on the lacrosse team and a team captain her senior
year.
"Stephanie is a great addition to our program," head
coach Tony Zostant said. "She brings a wealth of experience
to our team, will be an excellent recruiter and do a good job
of developing players."
"I am honored to be a part of the Binghamton women's lacrosse
program and eager to work with Coach Zostant," Allen said,
"I look forward to continuing my coaching career here as
it is an exciting time to be a part of the Binghamton lacrosse
program."
