Binghamton women's lacrosse beats Bucknell 18-7
N.Y.-- Junior attack Ali
had five goals and three assists, powering Binghamton (1-8) to
a 18-7 win over Bucknell (1-13) in a non-conference women's lacrosse
game on Wednesday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The
victory is the Bearcats' first since a 12-11 win over LeMoyne
last April 8.
Junior midfielder Beth
Moore added four goals for the Bearcats while freshman attack
McGeever chipped in three goals. Freshman
scored twice as did freshman midfielder Kristin
Moore scored three times in the opening 6:55 of play as the Bearcats
took a quick 5-0 lead. Castigle, meanwhile, had a goal and an
assist during that span.
From there, Castigle had two goals and an assist during the remainder
of the half as the Bearcats went up 12-2 at the break.
Carole Donahue scored twice for Bucknell in the opening 3:31
of the second half, trimming the deficit to 12-4. Moore and Castigle,
however, answered with back-to-back goals, putting the Bearcats
back up by 10 goals with 17:20 left in regulation.
McGeever, meanwhile, netted all three of her goals in the final
11:20 of regulation.
Binghamton outshot Bucknell 32-22.
Junior goalkeeper Emily
recorded 10 saves.
Donahue finished with three goals and an assist for Bucknell.
Binghamton heads to Vermont on Saturday for a noon game.
