BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Junior Beth Moore exploded for five goals but it was not enough to overcome the hosting Canisius College Griffens (3-2, 0-0 MAAC) as the Binghamton women's lacrosse team (0-3, 0-0 AE) fell 13-11 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins started the game strong, netting the first two goals of the game and keeping the Bearcats off the scoreboard for more than 16 minutes. Moore ended the dry spell with a goal at the 13:34 mark and sophomore Allie Sabitus added her first of the season less then two minutes later to even the score at two. Both teams would score three more before halftime, including two from Moore, and be deadlocked at five at the half.
Canisius again would jump out to a two goal advantage early in the second half, and although the Bearcats would tie the game, the Giffs held steady down the stretch to close out the game.
Canisius took 43 shots, far more then the Bearcats would only took 22 on the game and only 10 in the second half. Binghamton also turned the ball over 27 times compared to 20 for the Griffs.
Binghamton is in action next at Monmouth on Sunday March 21 at noon.
