HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The University of Colgate Red Raiders defeated the Binghamton women's lacrosse team 13-6, on Wednesday evening at Tylers Field.
The Bearcats scored the first goal of the game as freshman Lis Zuern found the back of the net with 27:53 on the clock. Colgate and Binghamton traded goals before the Red Raiders went on a three goal streak to take a 4-2 lead with 11:47 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Lisa Illig cut the lead to one just a little more than a minute later off a feed from fellow sophomore Ali Castiglie. However, Colgate would rally with four unanswered goals to close the half with a 8-3 lead.
The Red Raiders picked up where right where they finished the first half, scoring two goals to take a comfortable 10-3 lead. Binghamton would get no closer than six in the second half.
The Bearcats were led by sophomore Kate Tesi who scored two goals. Zuern, Illig, Castiglie added a goal and an assist apiece.
Binghamton was 0-7 on free position shot attempts, and was out shot 25-32 on the game.
Binghamton is in action next this Saturday at 11 a.m. when the Bearcats travel to Vanderbilt.
