Women's Lacrosse falls at No. 12 Syracuse, 23-4

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse (2-2) scored six unanswered goals in the opening seven minutes and cruised to a 23-4 win over visiting Binghamton (0-2) in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at the Carrier Dome on Tuesday evening.

The host Orange, who came into the contest ranked 12th in the most recent IWLCA poll, concluded the half with a 8-2 run to take a commanding 14-2 advantage after 30 minutes of action.

Senior Danielle Edwards (Horseheads, N.Y.) paced the Bearcats with a three-point performance on two goals and an assist. Senior Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and freshman Kate Gromatsky (Smithtown, N.Y.) added markers to round out BU's scoring.

Junior Sandra Alvarez (Port Washington, N.Y.) minded the net for the entire 60 minutes, making 18 saves.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday at Quinnipiac.
