Women's lacrosse falls at No. 6 Syracuse, 22-8

SYRACUSE,
N.Y. -- No. 6 Syracuse scored the game's first eight goals and
overpowered visiting Binghamton, 22-6, in a non-conference women's
lacrosse game at the Carrier Dome Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Halley Quillinan, a third team IWLCA All-America recipient
in 2007, led the nationally-ranked Orange with a game-high six
goals. Katie Rowan also turned in a six-point effort with two
goals and four assists.
Syracuse scored eight unanswered goals in the contest's first
15:06 and rolled to a 14-2 halftime lead. The Orange stretched
their lead to 21-4 in the second half, but the Bearcats responded
with a 4-1 run to close out the contest and create the final
margin.
Freshman Beth Moore (Hauppauge,
N.Y.) led Binghamton with three goals. Senior tri-captain Leanne
Musso
(Auburn, N.Y.) added a pair of goals, while sophomore Lizzie
Wright
(Massapequa, N.Y.) chipped in with a pair of assists.
Senior Sandra Alvarez (Port
Washington, N.Y.) and freshman Lauren Scott (Jarrettsville,
Md.) split time in net for the Bearcats combining for seven saves.
Binghamton (2-3, 0-1 AE) visits Monmouth on Sunday, March 9 for
a noon contest.
Notes: Syracuse leads the all-time series, 4-0...The Orange
are the highest ranked opponent BU has faced in its Division-I
tenure (Previously: No. 11 Boston University on April 12, 2006)...The
Orange are led by first-year head coach and US Lacrosse National
