Binghamton hires Emily Edmonston as head women's lacrosse coach
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University athletic department has announced the hiring of Emily Edmonston as its new head women's lacrosse coach. She arrives from Dickinson College (located in Carlisle, Pa.), where she has been the full-time assistant coach the past two years. Edmonston will begin her coaching duties on August 15.
"We are very excited about the future of our women's lacrosse program under the direction of Emily Edmonston," Associate Athletic Director Jim Norris said. "She is a bright, well rounded, and highly-organized coach who should lead our young program to new heights."
A 2001 graduate of Smith College, Edmonston was the head coach for St. Helen's School in Northwood, England during the 2001-02 school year. She then moved on to Dickinson where she was heavily involved in both recruiting and on-field coaching. In her two seasons with the Red Devils, Edmonston helped the squad triple its win total from the season before she arrived.
During her undergraduate career, Edmonston led Smith College to a pair of second place finishes in the NEWMAC Conference and was a team captain in both her junior and senior years. She also led the team defensively with 48 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers.
Edmonston replaces Susan Frost, who coached the Bearcats for the first three seasons that it was a varsity sport.
