Becky Green receives postseason America East honors

America East All-Conference Release

With a sparkling beginning to her collegiate career now in the books, freshman attack Becky Green (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) has been named an America East women's lacrosse all-star. The all-conference teams were announced earlier today, and Green garnered spots on both the second-team all-conference squad as well as the all-rookie team. She was the only Bearcat to receive postseason recognition.

In just the team's third season of varsity and Division I competition, Green was the focal point of a high-powered offense that ranked second among seven America East teams in assists and points per game. Green scored 30 goals and dished out 32 assists in 15 games, good for 62 points in her first collegiate campaign. All three of those marks were the highest on the team. Through the end of the regular season, Green ranked third in the entire nation in assists per game and was among the top 20 in points per game.

Green had several noteworthy performances throughout the season, but none were more dramatic than her five-goal, three-assist effort against Vermont on Easter Sunday. In that game, the Bearcats trailed 11-8 late in the second half before Green took control of the game. She scored three unanswered goals in a span of 6:16 to tie the game at 11-all, and Binghamton went on to score the game-winning goal with 1:20 remaining. It marked the team's first-ever win against an America East foe, and was the program's first victory away from home.

Binghamton concluded the season with a 4-11 record and fared 1-5 in conference play. The non-conference wins came in home games against Siena, Canisius, and St. Francis (Pa.).
