Iona pulls away in second half for 18-12 win over Binghamton women's lacrosse
Bearcats close out 2007 slate on Saturday against New Hampshire

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. --  Sister duo Jaclyn and Rachel O'Leary combined for 10 goals to lead Iona College (8-7) past Binghamton (1-13) by a score of 18-12 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.

Jaclyn had a game-high six goals while Rachel chipped in with four of her own for the host Gaels. Sophomore Marisa Audley added a five-point effort on two goals and three assists.

The Bearcats opened up the game with three goals from freshman Kate Gromatsky (Smithtown, N.Y.), senior Heather Grose (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and junior Leanne Musso (Aubirn, N.Y.).

Iona, however, would respond by scoring five unanswered in a span of 2:54 including two goals from Jaclyn O’Leary and two from Audley. The Gaels closed out the half on a 4-2 run to take a 9-5 lead for good into the break.

Musso led the way for the Bearcats scoring a team-leading five goals in the game while Gromatsky added a pair of markers. Grose, fellow senior Danielle Edwards (Horseheads, N.Y.) and sophomore Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.) each finished with a goal and assist.

Sophomore goaltender C.J. Cuneo (East Northport, N.Y.) manned the net for the Bearcats turning away 12 in the defeat.

The Bearcats return home for the final game of their 2007 season with a 12 p.m. game against New Hampshire.
