Women's lacrosse earns IWLCA Academic Squad Honors
VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton women's lacrosse team has earned Academic Squad honors for the 2008 season from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA). In addition, Kelsey Piper, Leanne Musso and Kristen Marsjanik were named to the 2008 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
The 50 Division I women's lacrosse programs that earned Academic Squad honors posted a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher. Binghamton has now earned Academic Squad honors four consecutive years. Furthermore, in the 14 seasons that Tony Zostant has been a college head coach, his teams have earned Academic Squad honors 13 times.
To be named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, a player must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum GPA of 3.2. Musso and Marsjanik graduated in May while Piper is a rising senior.
"Im extremely pleased that our players have been rewarded for their efforts in the classroom," Zostant said. "They truly exemplify the phrase student-athlete as the players take academics very seriously."
