Women's lacrosse adds former Bearcat standout Wetherell as part-time
assistant
VESTAL,
N.Y.- First-year Binghamton University women's lacrosse head
coach Tony Zostant has announced the addition of former Bearcat
standout and 2006 graduate Lauren Wetherell to his coaching staff
as a part-time assistant coach for the 2008 season.
She joins a staff that includes first-year assistant coach Stephanie
Allen.
Wetherell
is no stranger to the women's program. She was a mainstay in the Bearcat midfield
from 2002-06 and remains the program leader in points, assists,
draw controls and ground balls.
The Bethpage, N.Y. native twice earned All-America East honors
during her four-year tenure at Binghamton (2nd team in 2003 and
2006) and was an all-rookie selection as a freshman.
"Lauren obviously knows the program very well," Zostant
said. "She understands what it takes to be successful here
in the classroom and on the field. We are glad to have her on
board."
Binghamton kicks off its seventh season of intercollegiate women's
lacrosse when it opens a 16-game slate on Sunday, February 17
at William and Mary. |
