Ashley Manion hired as assistant women's lacrosse coach
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University athletic department has announced the hiring of Ashley Manion as its new assistant women's lacrosse coach. She becomes the first full-time assistant coach in the program's three-year history.
Manion is a 2004 graduate of Lehigh University, where she was a four-year starter at midfielder and on defense. She was also the team captain her junior year. On the coaching level, Manion was a volunteer assistant for a year with Advantage Lacrosse. In addition, she also offered private lessons to middle school players for two years.
"I'm extremely excited to have Ashley as my assistant," head coach Emily Edmonston said. "I am confident she will play a major role in our program's development. Her high-level playing experience at Lehigh and in the Patriot League combined with her competitive nature and passion for the sport will have both an immediate and long-term impact on the Binghamton women's lacrosse program."
"I'm excited to be at Binghamton," Manion said. "It's a good opportunity to be working with Emily. My goal is to help Binghamton be a threat in the America East Conference."
Binghamton will return to Manion's alma mater to open up the 2005 season on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m.
