Binghamton women's lacrosse falls on the road to Siena 12-5

Box Score

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.-- Siena College (1-5) built a 6-0 halftime margin and never looked back on its way to a 12-5 victory over Binghamton (2-6) in a non-conference tilt Thursday afternoon at Union College.

Junior attacker Christina Pampalone tallied a game-high three goals and an assist to lead the host Saints in securing their first victory of the season.

The Bearcats recorded the first two scores of the second stanza to narrow the margin to 6-2, but they would draw no closer as Siena's strong start was too much to overcome. On the afternoon, the Saints outshot Binghamton 38-28 while winning the ground ball battle by a 51-39 margin.

For Binghamton, junior attacker Heather Grose (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) led the way with two goals and an assist while classmate Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) added a goal, two assists and a team-high six groundballs.

Freshman Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.) also chipped in with a pair of finishes for the second time in as many games, bringing her season total to seven.

Sophomore goalie Sandra Alvarez (Port Washinton, N.Y.) made 10 saves in net for Binghamton.

After playing their first eight contests on the road, the Bearcats finally return to Binghamton for their home opener against St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Notes: Binghamton is now 2-2 all-time against Siena... Today's contest ends a grueling six-game, 12-day stretch for the Bearcat women... The game was originally scheduled to be played in Binghamton, but inclement weather forced the move to Siena.
