DURHAM, N.H. -- Kate Keagins poured in five points to lead the University of New Hampshire to a 17-8 victory against Binghamton University in America East women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.
New Hampshire jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half before sophomore Lis Zuern broke the run with a goal at the 23:17 mark. The Wildcats answered back and went on a 5-2 run to claim a 8-3 lead with 4:34 left in the first half. Junior midfielder Beth Moore scored her second of the game with 2:48 left but the Bearcats gave up a free-position goal with two second left to trail by five at the half.
New Hampshire opened the second half with four straight goals to take a a 13-4 lead with 19:12 remaining in the game. Moore would break the run but the Wildcats went on a 4-1 run to take a 17-6 lead before Moore and Zuern would add a pair, each off free-position shots, before the final buzzer.
Moore led the Bearcats with four goals. Also scoring for the Bearcats was Zuern with two and freshmen Kristin Stone and Allie Sabitus with one goal each. Freshman attack Kimberly McGeever had three assists for the Bearcats.
Wildcats held the edge in shots (33-29), ground balls (24-19)
and draw controls (16-10) while also committing fewer turnovers
