Women's lacrosse drops 18-11 decision to Vermont
Bearcats fall to 0-4 in America East Conference Play

VESTAL, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Kristen Millar registered eight points on six goals and two assists to lead Vermont (3-9, 1-1 America East) to an 18-11 victory over Binghamton (1-9, 0-4 AE) in America East women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon from the East Gym Complex.

Junior Leanne Musso (Auburn, N.Y.) opened up the scoring in the first half for the Bearcats before Vermont scored three unanswered to take the lead, including two by Millar in a span of 40 seconds. The Catamounts closed the half on a 3-1 run to take a 8-4 lead into halftime.

Vermont retained its momentum, scoring three times in the first three minutes of the second stanza. The visiting Catamounts led by as many as nine goals, before settling on the 18-11 margin.

The Bearcats were paced by sophomore Erika Travis'(Geneva, N.Y.) career-best six-point effort on four goals and two assists. Musso added three goals and an assist and sophomore Kelsey Pieper (Rensselaar, N.Y.) added two tallies in the losing effort.

Junior Sandra Alvarez (Port Washington, N.Y.) minded the net for the entire 60 minutes, making 15 saves and scooping up five ground balls.

The Bearcats travel to Boston on Saturday for a 12 p.m. game.
