Bearcats fall to Boston University in conference opener BOSTON, Mass. — Playing in persistent freezing rain at Nickerson Field on Saturday afternoon, Binghamton (0-4, 0-1 AE) was defeated 19-1 by defending champion Boston University (5-4, 1-0 AE) in the America East conference opener for both teams. The host Terriers, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season and regularly push for a spot in the national rankings, scored seven times in the first eight minutes of the game, led 13-1 at halftime and outshot the Bearcats 25-2. The Bearcats tallied eight ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, while controlling the draw on five occasions. The Bearcats will play a non-conference game against St. Francis (Pa.) on Monday. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. at the East Gym Complex. Binghamton defeated the Red Flash 11-9 last season. |
