Senior 174-pound Josh Patterson, ranked 13th in the country, earned a :20 second pin over American's Phillip Barreiro - and in the process became the program's all-time wins leader. With his 113th career victory, Patterson surpasses the mark set by former NCAA Division III national champion and three-time All-American Mark Gumble (1984-88). The reigning All-American is 113-29 in his four-year career, including an 18-5 record this season (10-0 in duals).
"Josh has done a lot for this program," head coach Pat Popolizio said. "He's put our program on the map and it's a great accomplishment for him."
Sophomore 165-pound Matt Kaylor also picked up a Binghamton victory with a 20-11 major decision to improve to 27-14 overall. Junior heavyweight Corey Waite is 28-13 overall after he picked up a decision and freshman 184-pound Nate Schiedel is now 20-6 overall (13-2 duals) after he posted a 7-6 win.
