Release: February 9, 2008 The Bearcats won the first nine matches and recorded three pins en route to beating the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats. Against Columbia, the Bearcats were leading 15-12 with three matches to go, but the Lions finished strong in the upper classes, recording two decisions and a pin to earn a come from behind victory. Sophomore Josh Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.) earned a 10-2 major decision over No. 18 Justin Herbert of Franklin & Marshall at 174 lbs. Patterson also recorded a pin in 2:31 against Columbia and improves his dual record to 12-2. "The more Josh wrestles the better he is going to be," said second-year head coach Pat Popolizio. "He proved tonight by dominating the match that he can be one of the top wrestlers in the country." Senior 149-pound Kyle Fried (Rock Hill, N.Y.), ranked 19th in the country, picked up two wins, including a 9-1 major decision against Franklin & Marshall. Fried, who is the current Colonial Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week, improved to his record to 14-1. Sophomore Anwar Goeres (Phoenix, N.Y.) and sophomore Ryan McGarity each recorded pins while wrestling at 141. Goeres had a pin in 4:02 against Columbia and McGarity earned his pin against Franklin & Marshall at 1:30. Binghamton will next travel to Drexel on February 15 for a for a Colonial Athletic Association dual match. Match
