Bearcats defeated by East Stroudsburg 22-12

VESTAL, N.Y. - Visiting East Stroudsburg (16-4) won six of the 10 bouts and earned a 22-12 win over Binghamton (7-14) in a dual match Wednesday night from East Gym. The Warriors opened with a forfeit win at 125 and a major decision at 133, then utilized narrow decisions at 149, 165, 174 and heavyweight to clinch the victory.

"I was very happy with what we did overall," BU head coach Mike Fusilli said.

Binghamton sophomore 141-pound Josh Ruff (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) scored a 9-3 decision to improve to 15-1 in duals this season. That total ties the school record shared by several BU wrestlers, including current senior teammate Joe Privitere (Johnson City, N.Y.). Ruff recorded three takedowns, two escapes, and had 2:34 of riding time for the final margin. Now 25-6 overall, he will have the chance to set the school record for dual wins in a season when the Bearcats visit Columbia in the final dual of the season Friday night.

"Josh did a great job," Fusilli said. "He stayed with the guy the entire match, and just wrestled a strong match."

Sophomore 184-pound Jerome Joe (Wheatley Heights, N.Y./Hal Hollow Hills East) posted a 7-5 decision, raising his record to 13-4 overall, 10-3 in duals.
