Immediate Release: January 31, 2004
The Bearcats received two wins apiece from their top two wrestlers - junior 141-pound Josh Ruff (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) and senior 149-pound Beau Bruno (Mineola, N.Y.). Ruff earned a 12-4 major decision against F&M before picking up a forfeit win against Delaware State. He is now 14-0 in duals and 20-4 overall. Ruff, who owns the BU record for most dual victories in a season (16 set last year), has three dual matches remaining to try to break his own mark. He also is bidding to become the 11th wrestler in program history to post a perfect dual season. Most recently, Jason Goldman went 9-0 as a Division III wrestler in 1996-97.
Bruno scored a 16-6 major decision against Franklin & Marshall, and raised his record to 9-4 in duals, 17-7 overall.
The BU-Delaware State match was limited to just four bouts, with the Hornets offering five forfeits and both teams unable to put out a wrestler at 125 pounds.
