Immediate Release: February 16, 2007
Binghamton dropped the first three matches of the evening and trailed 9-0 before the team's talented middle weights sparked the rally. Junior 149-pound Kyle Fried scored a 14-2 major decision to put BU on the board, and sophomore 157-pound Nate Patterson pinned his opponent in 3:48 to give BU a 10-9 lead. Fried raised his record to 21-12 overall, 11-6 in duals. Patterson recorded his team-high ninth pin of the season, and improved to 17-11 overall, 14-5 in duals.
Sophomore Sam Sirota (Tully, N.Y.) gave the Bearcats a big lift with an 8-6 sudden victory at 165 pounds. After back-to-back losses at 197 and heavyweight (the match sequence was altered due to Binghamton's late arrival), freshman 174-pound Josh Patterson took the mat with Binghamton trailing 15-13. Patterson rolled to a 20-3 technical fall and freshman 184-pound Corey Waite (Nichols, N.Y.) was given a forfeit for the final margin.
Patterson is now 25-7 overall, 16-3 in duals.
