Release: December 18, 2007 Fried, ranked 15th in the country at 149 pounds, remained unbeaten with a major decision against Boston University's Mike Roberts, the defending CAA champion. The senior is 4-0 this season. "Kyle's been working extremely hard to improve week by week," head coach Pat Popolizio said. "The result against Boston was a great indication that he's making big strides early in the season." Goeres moved to 7-0 in duals and 11-2 overall with three more victories at 141 pounds. He knocked off the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the CAA from Boston and then posted a major decision and his team-best fourth pin of the season in his other matches. "He's wrestling a great first semester," Popolizio said of Goeres. "He has a lot of confidence right now and is continuing to improve each week." Binghamton remains fifth in the team rankings, with five individuals ranked among the top-6 in their respective weight classes. Fried is No. 1 at 149 pounds, as is sophomore Josh Patterson (Wayne, N.Y.) at 174. Senior heavyweight Mike Patterson (Wayne, N.Y.) is No. 3, junior 157-pound Nate Patterson (Wayne, N.Y.) is No. 4 and sophomore 197-pound Corey Waite (Nichols, N.Y.) is ranked No. 5. The Bearcats return to action on December 29-30 at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C. |
