Bearcats sign second Gartiser

Binghamton University wrestling has bolstered its lower-weight personnel with the signing of John Gartiser (Tuxedo, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury High) to a national letter of intent. Gartiser will join his brother Joe, who is midway through his freshman year at Binghamton.

Gartiser, a two-time state placewinner, has built a 143-17 overall record entering his senior season at Monroe-Woodbury. He was state runner-up at 125 pounds last year, and placed fifth as a sophomore. Gartiser is currently is the sixth-ranked senior in the country by Wrestling USA magazine.

“John is a good athlete with good balance,” head coach Mike Fusilli said. “He is very aggressive, and is tough on his feet. John finds a way to win.”
