UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- Binghamton wrestling closed out a busy weekend by competing at the non-scoring Penn State Nittany Lion Open on Sunday. Freshman 174-pound Josh Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.) enjoyed another strong showing, going 6-2 to place sixth out of 63 wrestlers in his weight class.

Patterson began with a pin over a Kutztown wrestler in 3:58, and added a 9-1 major decision over an opponent from Old Dominion in the second round. He was defeated 5-4 by an Appalachian State wrestler in the round of 16 but then posted four wins in the back draw to claim seventh. Patterson earned another pin and another major decision in the wrestlebacks.

He is currently 13-4 overall with a team-best four pins and three major decisions.

Binghamton hosts Drexel in its first home dual at 7 p.m. this Friday at West Gym.
