Binghamton wrestling falls to Sacred Heart 29-18

FAIRFIELD, Conn.-- Binghamton wrestling (3-6) won four matches of the 10 matches but surrendered three pins and suffered a 29-18 setback to host Sacred Heart (1-0) Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats built an 18-13 lead before the Pioneers recorded back-to-back-to-back wins at 184, 197 and heavyweight - the last two coming by pin - to seize the victory.

Freshman Josh Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.) posted a commanding 15-0 technical fall at 174 pounds, raising his dual record to 7-2. Earlier sophomore Nate Patterson (Ontario, N.Y.) earned a 9-1 major decision up at 157 pounds. Junior 149-pound Kyle Fried (Rock Hill, N.Y.), ranked 17th in the country, recorded a third-period takedown to pull out a 3-2 decision.

Binghamton next hosts Delaware State and Clarion on January 13 beginning at 11 a.m. at West Gym.
