Quotes from 2006 Binghamton women's soccer America East Tournament media day

Head coach Jeff Leightman and the Binghamton women's soccer team met with the local media prior to Monday's practice to discuss the upcoming America East Conference Tournament. The Bearcats are the No. 4 seed and square off against No. 5 New Hampshire on Friday at 1 p.m. at Hartford.

Head Coach Jeff Leightman

"We are playing with a lot of confidence right now. We have played very well the last few weeks and we feel that we are peaking at the right time. If we score goals this weekend, we'll be tough to beat."

"We have finally sorted through our injury problems. It's wasn't until a few weeks ago that we have had most of our team back. We are as healthy as we've been this year."

"We expect a very tough game on Friday against New Hampshire. They are a very dynamic and explosive team. We played a great game earlier in the season when we beat them in overtime but we are not taking them lightly."

"Kristy Bowers has done very well for us. She has made the big saves for us, including some balls that looked as if they wouldn't be stopped. She has done a tremendous job for us these four years."

Senior midfielder Kelly Burnham

"We can't take New Hampshire lightly even though we beat them earlier in the season. We have to train really hard this week to prepare for Friday."

Senior goalkeeper Kristie Bowers

"We have a lot of momentum going into Friday's game. I like the way our defense has been playing. They have denied the other team from taking a lot of shots."

"To do well this weekend, we have to possess the ball well and influence the (tempo) of the game."

Junior forward Kim Povill

"We have to come ready to play on Friday. In these kind of games, whoever has the most heart is going to come out on top."
