Women's soccer plays Akron to a 1-1 draw
Host Zips score in the 89th minute to even score and force overtime

AKRON, Ohio-- Binghamton got a goal from Danielle White and Akron's Donna Swift netted the equalizer with 1:32 left in regulation time as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in women's soccer action on Sunday evening in at the Akron Westfield Cup.

"Ultimately, I was a bit disappointed in the result," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "I thought that we played well enough to win. We just did not take advantage of the opportunity. We'll learn from this as we head into next weekend and hopefully get a victory next Friday."

Bearcats (0-1-1) seemed on the verge of their first victory on the 2007 campaign after senior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) broke a scoreless deadlock in the 72nd minute with a breakaway goal to stake Binghamton to a 1-0 advantage.

Akron (1-0-1) would answer, however, netting a goal off a free kick from 35 yards out at the 88:28 mark of regulation.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Iman (Bel Air, Md.) recorded five saves in 110 minutes of action for Binghamton.

Akron recorded six shots on goal compared to BU's four.

White, freshman Mandi Casares (Rathway, N.J.) and senior Erica Eddy (Norwich, N.Y.) were all named to the 2007 Westfield Insurance Cup All-Tournament Team.

The Bearcats next compete at the Niagara Falls Classic where they will take on Buffalo on Friday and host Niagara University Sunday. Both contests are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.

Game notes: The meeting was the first between the two programs...For the second straight season, BU has gone to overtime in its first two games.
