Binghamton women's soccer blanks Albany 3-0 for second straight league win
Bearcats post second consecutive shutout in America East play

Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. - Binghamton (6-5-2, 2-1 America East) received goals from three different players and limited host Albany (1-12, 0-3 AE) to six shots in a 3-0 America East women's soccer victory Sunday afternoon from Centennial Field. The win was BU's second straight conference win and pushed the team back over the .500 mark overall.

"We played well from start to finish," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "I'm pleased. We could've finished better here and there but we did some good things on the attack. A 3-0 win on the road is a good score."

Freshman forward Kelly Haslinger (Boston, N.Y.) opened the scoring at the 43:28 mark, taking a feed from senior midfielder Lauren Massey (Burlington, Ontario) and beating the keeper from 10 yards out for her first collegiate goal.

In the second half, sophomore defender Katie Kerrigan (Middletown, N.Y.) knocked in a corner kick from senior midfielder Kelly Sanders (Ramsey, N.J.) at the 55:45 mark, boosting the lead to 2-0. Junior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) closed out the scoring in the 78th minute off a feed from sophomore forward Kim Povill (Massapequa, N.Y.).

Binghamton outshot Albany 16-6.

Junior keepers Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) and Kristy Doerner (Shoreham, N.Y.) shared the shutout with Bowers going the first 55:45.

Binghamton continues its three-game road swing with a game at New Hampshire on Thursday.
