Pedersen drills winner from 30 yards out 3:02 into first extra session

Box Score

VESTAL, N.Y. - Sophomore midfielder Casey Pedersen drilled a 30-yard shot into the top netting 3:02 into the first overtime to give Binghamton (6-7-1, 2-4 AE) a 1-0 win over visiting Albany (3-15, 1-5 AE) in an America East women's soccer game Sunday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Pedersen collected a loose ball outside the Albany box and ripped a right-footed shot that sailed over the keeper and just under the crossbar. It was her second goal of the season and first game-winner.

"It was a great overtime win for us tonight on Senior Night," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "I thought our players showed an unmatched commitment and perseverance throughout to earn the win."

Junior keeper Jen McEachron made six saves, including several spectacular stops in the first half, to preserve her fifth shutout of the season.

Binghamton outshot Albany 12-11, including a 10-4 margin after halftime.

The Bearcats play their final two regular season games on the road, beginning with a Thursday night match at Stony Brook.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak and gave BU sole possession of sixth place in the standings with two games remaining. The top six teams earn a berth into the America East tournament... Seniors Charlotte Foster, Kelly Haslinger and Kim Thomas were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
