BU keeper Bowers named America East Women's Soccer Player of the Week

America East Release

VESTAL, N.Y.--After a nearly perfect performance in goal through the first four games of the season, junior keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) has been named the America East Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week. The conference honor is the first for Bowers, a two-year starter.

Through four games this fall, Bowers has allowed just one goal. She recorded three straight shutouts to open the season and had a regular-season shutout streak of 525:14 snapped in a 1-0 loss to Harvard. Bowers hadn't been scored upon in the regular season since allowing a goal against Boston University back on October 28, 2004.

She owns a 96.9 save percentage and a minuscule 0.23 goals against average.

The Bearcats (2-1-1), ranked seventh in this week's regional poll, play at Bucknell tonight at 7 p.m.
