BU women's soccer shuts out Buffalo 1-0 for second straight win

Box Score

NIAGARA, N.Y. - Junior back Stefani Knopick executed a perfect free kick at the 50:25 mark and visiting Binghamton (2-3-1) posted its second straight shutout with a 1-0 win over Buffalo (1-6) Sunday afternoon.

After a Buffalo foul deep just outside its box, Knopick drilled an 18-yard shot to the top corner side netting for her first goal of the season.

Senior Jen McEachron and junior Erin Iman split their second straight shutout and third of the season. McEachron made two saves in the first half to lower her ERA to 0.33. Iman made three saves over the final 45 minutes to preserve the shutout and the win.

"I'm pleased with the way our girls respected the game and grinded out the win," head coach Sarah McClellan said of the physical, chippy game. "It was a great goal on a heads-up play from Stef."

Binghamton outshot its hosts 10-7.

The Bearcats return home to host Temple Friday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
