Immediate Release: September 18, 2005 BUFFALO, N.Y. - Host Canisius (1-6) struck for two first half goals and rolled to a 3-0 win over visiting Binghamton (4-3-2) Sunday afternoon from Demske Sports Complex. The win was the first of the season for the Griffs, while the Bearcats suffered a second consecutive loss for the first time since the final two games of the 2003 season - a span of 29 games. Canisius opened the scoring just 3:59 into the contest and added another goal at the 36:04 mark. The Griffs outshot BU 10-3 in the first half. In the second period, Binghamton stepped up its attack, and outshot Canisius 15-3, but couldn't convert. The Griffs added a third goal at the 70:57 mark. Junior keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) returned to the lineup after a game away and made just two saves. Binghamton next plays at Lehigh Friday night at 6 p.m. before hosting Vermont in the America East opener Sunday from West Gym Field. |
