BU women's soccer playmaker Casares named all-region
Junior midfielder earns third team All-Northeast honors

NSCAA/adidas All-Northest Teams

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton junior women's soccer player Amanda Casares has been selected to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast third team, the association announced.

Casares, BU's gifted center midfielder, led the Bearcats to eight wins and the program's fifth straight postseason berth in 2008. She tallied two goals and a team-high five assists while starting all 18 games. Casares also was named to the America East all-conference second team - her second straight all-conference honor.

"We are so proud of Mandi for receiving regional recognition," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "She certainly deserves it. Mandi is a workhorse on the field every day and is the engine of our midfield."

Binghamton went 8-9-1 and advanced to the conference semifinals for the second straight year.
