Women's Soccer
Bearcats beat Cornell 2-0


Vestal, N.Y. — Sophomore forward Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton, N.Y./ Susquehanna Valley) assisted on a pair of goals, leading Binghamton (6-1) to a 2-0 win over Cornell (2-2-2) in women’s soccer action today. The win was the Bearcats’ second in a row.

After a scoreless first half, Kasmarcik dribbled down the left endline and fed the ball to senior forward Sarah Young (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./ John Jay) who then tipped it in the net at the 60:23 mark. Nine minutes later, Kasmarcik struck again, passing the ball to freshman forward Tatiana Mathelier (Pomona, N.Y./ Saddle River Day School) who tipped the ball in at the 69:35 mark.

Cornell outshot Binghamton 16-11, but junior goalkeeper Lauren Cherry (Wyncote, Pa./ Cheltenham) made 10 saves to preserve the shutout.

Binghamton’s next game is at home against Niagara on Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
