Women's soccer team blanks Fairleigh Dickinson 1-0

Junior midfielder Caitlin O'Shaughnessy (Stony Point, N.Y./ North Rockland) netted her second goal of the season, leading Binghamton (5-2) to a 1-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (2-3) in women's soccer action on Wednesday in Teaneck, N.J. With the win, the Bearcats record their fourth solo shutout of the season.

Despite being outshot 9-6, O'Shaughnessy converted on the key play of the game when she fired a shot off the crossbar at the 11:55 mark. Freshman forward Kelly Burnham (Endicott, N.Y./ Union-Endicott) was credited with the assist.

"I don't think we played like we were capable," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "Fairleigh Dickinson outworked us. Still, it's good coming away with a win on the road.

Freshman goalkeeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./ Greece Olympia) recorded her fourth shutout of the season, making six saves in the process.
