VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer freshman forward Jamie Holliday has been named the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Holiday scored twice to lift BU to a 3-1 win over Temple Friday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex, giving her three goals in her last three games. Holliday opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the contest, sending a ball from the right flank over the Owls' keeper and into the far corner. She added her second goal of the game in the 18th minute and was selected as the America East Player of the Game.
She ranks second in the conference in scoring and sixth in points per game.
"Jamie's ability to come in and find goal-scoring opportunities is quite impressive," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "The hard work all of our players are putting in each day is beginning to pay off."
The Bearcats (3-3-1), winners of three straight games, open their America East slate at defending conference champion Boston University on Sunday.
