BU women's soccer keeps rolling with 2-0 shutout over Holy Cross
Foster, Casares score and defense preserves second straight shutout

WORCESTER, Mass. - Binghamton women's soccer (3-1) scored once in each half and its stingy defense blanked host Holy Cross 2-0 Sunday afternoon from Smith Soccer Stadium. The shutout was BU's second straight. The Bearcats have allowed just two goals in four games this fall.

"It was a great team effort today," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We made a few adjustments in the first half and the players really battled and stuck to the game plan. They worked hard and I'm happy they got the result they earned."

Senior forward Charlotte Foster opened the scoring in the 39th minute, taking a pass from sophomore back Dani Raske and banking in a shot off the right post. It was Foster's second goal of the season.

In the second half, junior midfielder Amanda Casares stole the ball from a Holy Cross defender and ripped an 18-yard shot into the top left corner. to complete the scoring.

Junior keeper Jen McEachron needed to make just four saves for the Bearcats, who outshot their hosts 12-8. McEachron lowered her season goals against average to a paltry 0.49.

Binghamton returns home to host Iona Friday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
