YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio. - Binghamton women's soccer (4-1-2) staked itself to a 2-0 lead before Manhattan (3-2-1) tallied twice in the game's final 22 minutes to produce a 2-2 draw at the Youngstown State Penguin Classic, Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
"We actually played really well for the first 65 minutes," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "But we stopped playing a little bit up 2-0 and they came back and pressured us. We're obviously disappointed with the result. Up 2-0 we have to finish out the game."
Junior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) scored her third goal of the season in the 22nd minute and the Bearcats held a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second period, junior midfielder Kelly Burnham (Endicott, N.Y.) notched her second goal of the season to provide BU with a 2-0 cushion. Freshman forward Kelly Haslinger (Boston, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Lauren Massey (Burlington, Ontario) picked up assists on both goals.
But the Jaspers got on the board with a penalty kick goal at the 68:04 mark and then scored the equalizer off a corner kick with just 4:24 left in regulation.
Junior keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) made five saves for the Bearcats.
