Women’s soccer player Lauren Massey (Burlington, Ont./Notre Dame) has been named BU’s Athlete of the Week for September 2. Massey, a freshman midfielder, scored two goals as the Bearcats posted two wins for the week. Massey scored the team’s opening goal in a 2-1 win over Lafayette, then netted an insurance goal in BU’s 2-0 victory over Mt. St. Mary’s.

“Lauren had a really good game against Mt. St. Mary’s,” fifth-year coach Jeff Leightman said. “We expect a great deal from her, and I’m pleased so far. We didn’t recruit her primarily for her scoring, but we’ll certainly take a goal a game. We expect more great things from her.”
