lose 3-1 at Navy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Host Navy (6-0) remained unbeaten in 32 straight regular-season games with a 3-1 victory over visiting Binghamton (4-2) Sunday afternoon. The streak is the longest in the nation.
The Mids broke a scoreless halftime tie with two goals in an eight-minute span early in the second half. Binghamton got one back three minutes later when senior striker Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) fed a ball to freshman linemate Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.), who scored her team-high fourth goal of the season. With time winding down and BU pressing for the equalizer, Navy instead tacked on a third goal with 42 seconds left in the contest.
"They controlled a good part of the game," said BU head coach Jeff Leightman of the Mids, who enjoyed a 16-2 shot advantage. "When we went down 2-0 we began to come at them, but couldn't quite get it done."
Freshman keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) made six saves.
Binghamton travels to Teaneck, N.J. on Wednesday to face Fairleigh Dickinson in the second of six straight road games.
