Immediate Release: August 27, 2006 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Binghamton women's soccer (0-1-1) surrrendered three second-half goals and suffered a 4-0 loss to host Navy Sunday afternoon at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The host Midshipmen (2-0) captured their own tournament after not allowing a goal in two games. "I thought we outplayed them for much of the first half," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "But we gave the ball away and made too many mental and physical mistakes in the second half. They used their depth to run us off the field. The way the first 20 minutes of the game went, I thought we were in great shape but things slowly started to turn ... and then the second half was a nightmare." Navy, which owned a 17-11 shots advantage, opened the scoring in the 38th minute and held a 1-0 halftime margin. The Mids added second-half goals in the 53rd, 70th and 78th minutes for the final cushion. The Bearcats next play at University of Pittsburgh Friday night. |
