Women's soccer drops 2-1 decision at Niagara

LEWISTON, N.Y.-- Host Niagara (2-2) scored twice in a span of 5:54 en route to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Binghamton (0-3-1) in the final round of the Niagara Fall Soccer Classic.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior midfielder Tricia Reed (Oswego, N.Y.) found the upper right corner of the net from 20 yards out with 14:07 gone in the game. Senior forward Kim Povill (Massapequa, N.Y.) was credited with the assist.

Niagara tied the game up at the 60:29 mark on an unassisted goal by Caitlin Long, who took advantage of a scramble in front of the goal. From there, Stephanie Gartley scored what proved to be the game winner at the 66:23 mark as she finished off a cross from Alyssa Pollock.

The Purple Eagles outshot Binghamton 23-15, including 15-5 in the decisive second half.

Senior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) and senior midfielder Kerry O'Shaughnessy (Stony Point, N.Y.) were named to the all-tournament team.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Iman (Bel Air, Md.) recoreded a season-high nine saves.

Binghamton heads to Florida International for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday.
