Women's soccer team falls to Northeastern 1-0

Box Score

VESTAL, N.Y.--Jennifer North scored on a header with 1:46 remaining in the first half, lifting Northeastern (6-7-4, 2-2-2 AE) to a 1-0 win over host Binghamton (9-5-2, 3-3-1 AE) in an America East Conference women's soccer game on Sunday. The contest marked the home finale for the Bearcats.

Binghamton outshot the visiting Huskies 20-14 for the game but Northeastern converted the shot that mattered when Jess Pfeifer passed the ball to North, who was waiting by the goal. North then headed it in from close range for the only score of the game.

"We had many chances to score but we just could not finish," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "There is no excuse for not finishing. We can't keep having this problem."

Binghamton goalie Lauren Cherry (Wyncote, Pa./ Cheltenham) made six saves.

The Bearcats travel to Buffalo on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
