BALTIMORE, Md.--Freshman Kim Povill (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored a pair of first-half goals leading Binghamton (8-2-1, 2-1 America East) past host UMBC (4-7, 0-3 AE) 2-0 in an America East women's soccer contest Friday afternoon.

Povill opened the scoring 7:51 into the game, putting the finishing touch on a corner kick from senior midfielder Caitlin O'Shaughnessy (Stony Point, N.Y.). Then in the 34th minute, Povill tacked on her team-high sixth goal of the season. She now has 18 points in her first 11 collegiate games.

"We played great in the first half," head coach Jeff Leightman said.

Sophomore keepers Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) made four saves for her fourth shutout of the season.

Binghamton outshot the Retrievers 10-8 and had a 9-3 margin in corner kicks.

The Bearcats return home on Sunday to host No. 20 West Virginia on Homecoming Weekend. Kick off is set for noon at West Gym field.
