BU women's soccer comes up short at Vermont 1-0
Host Catamounts net game-winner in 70th minute

Box Score

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Vermont (2-10, 1-2 AE) forward Haley Marks scored on a through ball in the 70th minute to lift the host Catamounts to a 1-0 win over Binghamton women's soccer (3-9, 1-2 AE) in an America East game Sunday afternoon from Centennial Field.

The Bearcats, mired in an offensive slump, built a commanding 21-8 shots advantage but were blanked for the fourth time in the last six games.

Freshman keeper Carrie Martin needed to make just three saves.

"I thought we played quite well," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "Our possession was good and we controlled the game but we need to find a way to finish. We are getting too many opportunitites to not put them away."

Sophomore forward Sarah Furminger was named BU's America East Player of the Game.

Binghamton has a week off before hosting Albany next Sunday afternoon.
