Va. - Unbeaten No. 18 West Virginia (4-0) peppered Binghamton
women's soccer (0-3-1) with 44 shots en route to a 4-0 victory
Sunday afternoon from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers
extended a 1-0 halftime lead with three goals in the second half.
The Bearcats played without three starters and lost a fourth
to injury in the first half. West Virginia opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute and carried a 1-0 lead into intermission. Then the Mountaineers exploded for three goals in an 11-minute span early in the second half to put the game away. Senior goalkeeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) made 12 saves. After four straight road games to open the season, BU returns home to host Syracuse at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. |
