Women's tennis team inks two players during early signing period

The Binghamton women's tennis team has received a national letter of intent from two New York state high school players, both of whom are ranked by the United States Tennis Association (USTA). They will join the team for their freshman season next fall.

Alyssa Freeman (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) is currently a senior at Lawrence High School. She has ranked as high as No. 21 in the USTA's Eastern Section and No. 320 nationally. She has posted wins over the players ranked No. 289 and 297 nationally.

"Alyssa will have an immediate impact on the strength of our team," head coach Mike Stevens said. "She is a very intense competitor with an aggressive baseline game."

Jennifer Naegeli (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) is a senior at Mahopac High School. She is currently ranked in the top 40 in the USTA's Eastern Section.

"Jenn will help add to the quality and competitive strength of our program," Stevens said. "She is a tremendous fighter on the court."
